Not Letting Go

DAVID ARCHULETA!!!

The day started with me waking up round 6. I went over to Manda's bout 8 and we left for Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre. Yaawn. I was wondering why on earth we had to get there so early when it was stated that the showcase would only be starting at 3 in the afternoon. But when we got there [it was about 8.40AM], there were already quite a number of people sitting in line since, apparently, 7 in the freakin' morning. Man, this people...

Anyway, this nice uncle guard told us that the gate would only be opening at 12 PM. *whuuh...? glance at watch... [8:50 A.M.]* Grreat.. So there we waited for 4 hours. 4 really long hours under the scorching hot sun. It was foolish of us to go totally unprepared with no sunblock or umbrellas. So we were completely exposed, soaking up the sun rays. The only form of protection I had was a small towel of Yoke Pei's that I used to cover a small of my spaghetti top-covered back but it later proved to have been of little benefit.

"Archangel". Haha. I was so inspired by all the banners made by Archie's oh-so-loyal fans.

12 PM came.. finally!
"Listen girls. When we open the gate, we don't want anyone to start running, OK? It's a downward path so just walk." Yeaaah right. Like that's gonna happen. We went in and started our walk downhill then saw these girls behind us running. And it did not look like they had their brakes working right. So we started running as well. I was afraid they were gonna crash into us. While running, my feet hurt so bad that I just took my shoes off. So I ran quite a way on burning hot tar ground, barefooted. Haha. But all that running was worth it as we managed to get good seats, right at the centre, 3 rows up. Once inside, we had nothing to do but again, wait. For another 3 hours. 4 hours to get pass the gates & another 3 hours before we see David on stage. Really. So what do we do? Chat chat. Click click. Doh. Lol.

wait..wait..

And then! Finally, people on stage. JJ and Ean. From the hitz.fm Morning Crew. =) They got everyone warmed up (like everyone wasn't already so hyped) and gave out goodie bags. There was this one little girl who went up there to sing "Crush". Aww. She was adorable! There were 3 opening acts by local artistes. First up was Hou Ren from idunnowhatshow. Then idunnowhat'shisname from One In A Million. And then Daniel Lee, Malaysian Idol from who knows how many years ago! They each performed 2 songs. Honestly, they weren't that bad. Quite bearable. Hehe. I enjoyed Daniel's "Mimpi" the most.

AH AT LAST! The one we've been waiting for... David Archuleta! Oh gosh, were the screams deafening.
He only came on about 4.30 PM. Great huh. Duration of our wait? You do the math.
But I guess it was worth the wait. =)
He performed really well.
He started off with "A Little Too Not Over You" followed by "Touch My Hands" and "Don't Let Go". After a break, he came back on the keyboards and did a version of Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" and Robbie Williams' "Angels". Last of all was, well duh, Crush.

Video of David singing "Touch My Hand"!

He looked up and grinned shyly every time the crowd erupted into cheers. =) Cute.

I've got a few more videos but I'm too tired to upload them so hope one's enough!

=P

On the way out from there, we got caught in the rain. It started out with light patter but not long after, it just started to pour! We were drenched wet. Haha. But it was all good. We headed to Sunway Pyramid for dinner. We then walked around a bit, look-see-look-see and headed home round 8.40 PM.

Result?
A sunburn, blisters, getting caught in the rain + time with friends, David Archuleta = One heck of a day!

Though I was more of a Dave Cook fan when they battled it out on Idol, I gotta say that Archie deserves as much credit. He has a tremendous voice and I have to admit, I was more than a little mesmerized after witnessing his performance live.

Thanks so much Manda once again for if it weren't for you, I'd never have gotten the chance to see Dave and to Yoke Pei and Jo for making up the terrific company! =) This was definitely one memorable experience that I'll always treasure.

=D Tata for now.
